W02 – Entrepreneurial Journal: Childhood Dreams and Life Lessons

By Getzels De Los Santos This week’s materials, especially Randy Pausch’s "Last Lecture," really touched me. It’s amazing how someone facing death could still teach with so much energy, purpose, and gratitude. Randy was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he never stopped believing they were possible. He worked hard, stayed positive, and kept pushing forward even when he hit "brick walls." He said those walls were there to test how badly we want something, not to stop us. That message really stuck with me. I absolutely believe that dreaming is important. Dreams give our lives direction and purpose. They inspire us to stretch, to grow, and to try—even when the path is difficult. When we stop dreaming, we stop progressing. Dreams also help us stay connected to who we really are inside, especially as we go through responsibilities and challenges in life. Week 1 Journal Entry: Embracing the Entrepreneurial Journey

 This first week of class has already given me a lot to think about. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of creating something of my own, but I never really took the time to reflect on why . Reading and watching the materials this week helped me see that entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting a business—it’s also about discovering who I am and what I value most. The article by Jeff Sandefer really stood out to me. He talked about the importance of keeping a journal, not just to track what we learn but to capture our thoughts, feelings, and “aha” moments along the way. I’m not someone who usually writes things down, but this idea made sense to me. If I want to grow—not just as an entrepreneur, but as a person—I need to take the time to reflect. One of the main things that stuck with me this week was the message to “do what you love.” It sounds simple, but it really made me think. Am I doing what I love?
