Week 1 Journal Entry: Embracing the Entrepreneurial Journey

This first week of class has already given me a lot to think about. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of creating something of my own, but I never really took the time to reflect on why. Reading and watching the materials this week helped me see that entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting a business—it’s also about discovering who I am and what I value most.

The article by Jeff Sandefer really stood out to me. He talked about the importance of keeping a journal, not just to track what we learn but to capture our thoughts, feelings, and “aha” moments along the way. I’m not someone who usually writes things down, but this idea made sense to me. If I want to grow—not just as an entrepreneur, but as a person—I need to take the time to reflect.

One of the main things that stuck with me this week was the message to “do what you love.” It sounds simple, but it really made me think. Am I doing what I love? I enjoy being a software developer and solving problems, but I want to make sure I’m building a life that’s aligned with my purpose and values, not just a career.

I also liked the idea of treating our careers like startups—always learning, adapting, and looking for ways to grow. That really resonated with me. Life doesn’t always go as planned, and being flexible is something I want to work on more.

Overall, this week has helped me slow down and reflect. I’m excited for this class and to keep learning—not just about entrepreneurship, but about myself.
