W03 Reflection – Honesty & Business Ethics

By Getzels De Los Santos

This week I learned about honesty and ethics in business. I really liked the readings and videos because they helped me think more about the kind of person I want to be, not just the kind of business I want to build. One thing that stood out to me was how important it is to have clear values before hard situations come. If I already decide now that I will be honest no matter what, it will be easier to say no to something wrong later.

I also learned that honesty in business is not just about avoiding lies. It’s about doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. For example, keeping promises to customers, treating employees with respect, and being fair with money. In the long run, people trust honest companies more. I want my future business to be one that people can trust. Even if it grows slower, I believe it will be stronger.

Something I really liked was learning about “moral guardrails.” This helped me a lot. I made a list of things I will never do and things I will always do (like never lie to get ahead, and always treat people with respect). I feel like this is not only for business but for life too.

I’m looking forward to learning more about how to make good decisions in business, especially when money and pressure are involved. I know it’s not always easy, but I believe we can be successful and honest at the same time. I want to be the kind of person that my family and community can be proud of—not just someone who makes money, but someone who does things the right way.
